Fall Colors!

Hey everyone who is reading this. This is my first post ever on this Blog or any blog for that matter. I figure that since I will be a father soon, I better get with the program and not let my wife have all the fun of sharing. haha just kidding. Anyways, tonight was really cool and relaxing because we drove up into the mountains and went up past Aspen Grove to see all the fall colors. It was really beautiful up there and we were really enjoying ourselves until some crazy lunatic almost drove us off the road. Oh well, I guess a lot of people are just going crazy trying to see all of the fall colors before they are gone. You know how fast they come and go, except for the trees by the Harmon Building (if you know what I mean) which apparently stay in their fall colors all year around. Maybe its the grounds crew (kelly?) that is spraying it with something weird, like a fall color enhancer. Anyways to get back to the point, they were really beautiful and we recommend that everyone go up to see them (just don't all go at once or there will be cars being driven off the road all over the place). After we got back my wife entertained me on our piano while the people above us stomped on the floor telling us to be quiet. Actually they didn't really care I don't think. But if they ever do, I will be sure to pound on their ceiling when they start playing DDR at like 2 am. Well, until next post...

I can hardly believe that it's been three years since I entered the MTC to serve my mission in the Korea Daejon Mission! My parents both served missions and because of their example I decided to go too.

I remember how nervous I was in the MTC and how anxious I was to be a good missionary...

It's funny because in those first weeks at the MTC I really believed that I was going to help others, and I think the person that benefited the most from my mission was me!

I realized that God can do this work regardless of me, but it was my privilege to be a part of it in this way... I also realized that sometimes we wait for the blessings as some distant future thing, when the real blessing is sometimes the experience!

This is an exerpt from what I wrote in my journal 3 years ago today...my first night in the MTC
"Today was the longest day ever. There were so many emotions. I felt the Spirit so strongly today and it really makes me want to do my best.... I'm excited and want to keep this Spirit I felt today with me always! I guess that means I better go to bed on time...right now!"
